Lionheart

I braved my body well when you stopped loving me –
did not untie the ribbons of my wrist,
or let another kiss your taste to ash.
I know it sounds like nothing:
the months of standing still
against my hands that yearned for violence,
or how I was so tender with my teeth
they did not meet,
and I never said anything,
including your name.
I never said anything
because you wanted to change.
