The Rushed Slice

I gave my heart like there would always be more,
but there wouldn’t always be more.
I gave my love like it would never end,
but here we are.
And if I left my clothes too long on your bedroom floor,
you had a mouth and a tongue and teeth that could’ve told me so.
I am not too good at the letting go,
but the years have cut like water over rocks,
and I am alone.
After all this time, you should’ve told me so.
